ENGINE CO. 1

The quarters of Engine Co. 1 located at 199 Hudson Street was built in 1893 as the volunteer fire house for Hudson Hose Co. No. 3.
It is the only former Volunteer Fire House still in existence in Hackensack.
This company is first due in the "downtown" area of the city a part of which includes the Bergen County Justice Center, the County Jail, numerous commercial and light industrrial buildings as well as residential buildings.
In 1999 Engine 1 responded to 1,260 alarms.
